I almost don't believe these pieces are real. These shadow sculptures are made by Tim Noble and Sue Webster...can you imagine the patience! Each piece is created using trash taking 6 months to a year to create. I can't believe those piles are projecting the silhouettes...See more here and here

Check out the current exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City by artist Song Dong.

Song Dong's mother spent her entire life hoarding anything that she got her hands on, and refused to ever throw anything away. All her life she lived in a tiny house packed full with every kind of bits and pieces you can imagine. Before she died, he was able to convince her to allow him to clean out the house and use the contents as an exhibition. The exhibition is called Waste Not, and essentially it is all of his mother's possessions, laid out and organized. The huge mass of stuff is really astounding.

Bamboo Cars

These bamboo taxis are so cool! They were commissioned by the mayor of Tabontabon, a town of about 10,000 people in Leyte Province, Philippines. The main method of transportation there is motorcycles, with sometimes up to 6 people crowding onto one bike. Though this method of travel is cheap, it is very dangerous, and not very environmentally friendly either....

The new bamboo taxis are made 90% of bamboo, are as cheap as motorcycles, and run completely on coconut bio-diesel. One gallon can make the cars run for 80 hours! Such an awesome concept.

I've been considering buying a knitting machine...until I saw this. Nothing I could buy could ever top this.

It's a wind powered knitting machine designed to knit scarves when the weather is just right. Periodically the scarves are trimmed down into individual sizes and come with their own label telling you when and how long it's taken to produce. Awesome.

Light Breakfast

I love this picture and I couldn't resist posting this. Have a wonderful and safe 4th everyone!

Taken by David Sykes.
"This latest piece of personal work is all shot in one shot on 5×4 transparency. I comissioned a model maker, Ridley West, to make a giant plate that we could attach to the wall, and with the help of Jennie Webster who sourced some amazing balloons, this shot was the result."

On 6.24.09, paper company Arjowiggins announced the latest "rejuvenation" to their Curious Collection and decided to do something different to showcase it... Such a good way to tie paper to design. Photographs taken by French photographer Grégoire Alexandre.
