Light Breakfast

I love this picture and I couldn't resist posting this. Have a wonderful and safe 4th everyone!

Taken by David Sykes.
"This latest piece of personal work is all shot in one shot on 5×4 transparency. I comissioned a model maker, Ridley West, to make a giant plate that we could attach to the wall, and with the help of Jennie Webster who sourced some amazing balloons, this shot was the result."

fun

On 6.24.09, paper company Arjowiggins announced the latest "rejuvenation" to their Curious Collection and decided to do something different to showcase it... Such a good way to tie paper to design. Photographs taken by French photographer Grégoire Alexandre.

When: Friday, June 26, 4-9PM & Saturday, June 27, 11-9PM

Where: at ROOM SERVICE and other locations along the Gordon Square Arts District in the Detroit Shoreway Neighborhood

"The MADE IN THE 216 event was created by ROOM SERVICE (RS) Owner, Danielle DeBoe to highlight just how many talented designers are choosing to STAY and build their businesses in CLEVELAND; And to underscore their high level of talent by merchandising the Cleveland-made designs seamlessly amongst the items purchased by NYC, LONDON, LA, SAN FRANCISCO and PARIS-based designers. There are no ‘booths’ or traditional craft/trade show set ups that differentiate the designers’ wares. They are integrated in the same creative, narrative-driven way that RS merchandises their products year round.

The other thing that makes this show different is the diversity of the products being offered at the show. The show features a wide weft of creations from menswear, jewelry, tshirts, and personal accessories to stationary, photography, screenprints, household goods, furniture and music. These Cleveland-based creators represent all levels of entrepreneurship, from the craft circuit, to etsy shops, to international sales….all people who have chosen to stay and build their business in the 216 as opposed to leaving for bigger cities…THIS is something I think worth celebrating."

There will be live music, food, and shopping. What more could you ask for?

Non-melting Ice Cream

Have you seen this?

Verrrry interesting... it’s ice cream that doesn’t melt at room temperature! Coldstone Creamery and JELL-O have joined forces to introduce a concoction that is ice cream at cold temperatures, but JELL-O pudding-mousse-like at room temperature. It's available in chocolate and butterscotch this July at Coldstone locations everywhere.

I'm so over it

So it's rained for, what? Months now. No surprise! Because we've really had a seasonal shift here in Cleveland. Consider June part of spring. Who's to blame, that's questionable. Who really cares ... I'm so over it. Use the extra time to buff up to fit in to that summer bathing suit that's now probably collecting moth balls. If you're lucky enough not to have to do this ... I envy you.

Another Reason Not to Eat Peanut Butter

Fact: The FDA allows you to sell bugs and rodent hair for consumption.

Also consider: The FDA allows an average of 30 or more insect fragments and one or more rodent hairs per 100 grams of peanut butter.

Yee-ow-zeers!

WOM4FRITOS

Fritos are good.

There. I've said it.
So I took the dog for a walk. Came home and would like to have said I had a glass of water and maybe a handful of blueberries.

Nope. Went right for the Fritos (Scoops!!) no less. Salt and crunch and mmmmm Fritos goodness. And a tall glass of Crystal Light Iced Tea.

I haven't had Fritos in a while. My husband likes them, and my girls take a few in their lunches from time to time.

I don't know why I never pull the bag down off the refrigerator and indulge myself. Maybe I had started to believe my own hype?

"Fritos are bad for you."

"Fritos contain the highest levels of dirt and insect parts allowed by the FDA."

"Fritos are disgusting."

Ok, really? I just was talking myself back for so long. But not tonight. It's been a long week - and it's only Tuesday.
I reached right up on past the freezer and grabbed the bag.

Truth be told, I only ate 12.

Fritos are known for going right to the hips.

What do you think?

If someone won't help you, is it because they really can't or just won't? I didn't get the "help" I needed today. And it put me in a poor mood. Argh. Then I get a nice follow-up phone call a few hours later saying: Sure, I'd be happy to take care of it. No worries. No problem. Ah ... music to my ears. Now that's what I'm talking about.

People who find a way!

Love it.

Has Suburban Sprawl Hit Religion, Too?

If you've followed the recent local press about area catholic churches, then you already know. Some are merging. Others closing. Are churches the latest mass victim of this economic crisis or has this been a long time coming? Are there less downtown parishoners because people continue to move toward the suburbs? Read the Plain Dealer's front page article: www. cleveland.com/plaindealer and then share your thoughts.

Teamwork at its Best

The Studiothink team was at it again. Over the weekend a few of us got together – for the Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon.

We had a great time raising money for a good cause and making fun of each other's bowling technique. Jana earned the nickname of Fredrica because she bowled like Fred Flintstone...remember how he would bowl with twinkle toes?!

I was Bev the Bomb- although Christine tried to sabotage me but I got the strike anyway!

Christine was the Bowling Diva with great form.

We had such a great time that we are considering joining a bowling league…look at these awesome scores!

I HATE blogging

I HATE blogging....
gosh do I hate blogging? it's like pulling teeth... I would rather go to the dentist. I was suppose to post this blog on Monday and it's already wednesday.... but that's because I am typing this with one arm only - because the other arm is twisted behind my back - by Leah. Leah is the blogging police. We are all suppose to blog because it's the thing that people do these days. I hate blogs and Myspace and Facebooks and all those things. I don't visit them, I ignore them. I just don't have time. Every time Leah sends us email to remind us to blog I usually delete it as quickly as possible and try to forget it. Sorry Leah, now you what happens to your emails. I just don't have much time to write something fun or interesting that people will want to read. I was having nightmares and anxiety when my upcoming "blogging assignment" was approaching. I was wrecking my brain what to blog about. I couldn't come up with one thing. Luckily there was this awesome event that all of us from studiothink attended this past Sunday - Road to the Red Carpet. Cleveland Film Commission put together this amazing event and it turned out better than I ever imagined. Road to the Red Carpet was incredible. We had so much fun - great atmosphere, great people, unbelievable food. They did an Incredible job pulling it all together. Thanks Ivan, Concetta, Erin, Kammeron, Shana and everyone involved. Great job. All of us attended the event and we had a blast. Thanks everyone at Cleveland Film Commission for giving us the chance to being part of the creative process and being part of this great event. You let us shine too.
OK, Leah. Let go of my arm now. You will have to post this blog now because I cannot figure out how to do that.... and hopefully you won't bug me for few weeks.... (but I love you anyway)
